Wednesday was the first night of alpine racing at Snowbowl and guess who forgot her skis? That’s right! I did. I’m on a roll this season. I forgot my poles the first day of the season. So, actually, I brought a pair of skis, but they weren’t mine. They were my boyfriend’s. Blizzard Ball 2011 is this weekend. It’s an opportunity for softball players in Missoula (and some from out of state) to get together [...] I signed up for an avalanche I class this weekend. Not because I’m a huge backcountry skier, but I’d like to get into the backcountry more and figured that to go confidently and safely into unfamiliar territory, I had better learn about snow safety. First, this Wednesday marks the beginning of the weekly alpine racing series at Snowbowl. If I don’t break my arm (which is absolutely a possibility) I’ll be excited to report back on Thursday about how it goes. For those who [...] Meet my friend Steph. Steph has really awesome retro ski pants that used to belong to her mother. The bright blue color means she’ll never get lost in a blizzard. The waist is so high that Steph has to roll them several times so they sit at her waist and the bottom zippers are located in the front. [...] There was nothing but blue sky for miles at the top of Chief Joseph Pass. Sometimes it’s easy to forget that there’s a big beautiful sky above the Missoula Valley inversion. On Tuesday, we found it. And much more. We traveled to Chief Joseph Pass to check out the many miles of cross-country ski trails there. Mother [...] Better start perfecting those terrain park moves because the 2nd annual Ride Montana Festival is only days away. The best trick competition is scheduled for Saturday.
